What is my Local Property Tax?

Checked 21 Oct 2026the Finance (Local Property Tax) Act 2012 as amended by the Finance (Local Property Tax) (Amendment) Act 2025.

Local Property Tax, or LPT, is a yearly tax every home owner pays to the council. The amount depends on what the home was worth on 1 November 2025, which sets a band, and on whether your council has moved the charge up or down. Pick your council and enter the value, and the tool shows the band and the charge for the year.

The home

Where is it, and what was it worth on 1 November 2025?

The tool gives the charge for a home that is not exempt, from the value you enter. It does not value your home; Revenue's own valuation tool and the Property Price Register help with that. Some councils' adjustments are not in our records yet, and the tool says so where that applies.

Information, not advice. This tool applies the published rules to the figures you enter. It does not say what a lender will offer you, what a home is worth, or what is right for your money. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to this site. Last checked 2026-10-21. MortgageWise is an independent site, not connected with the Central Bank of Ireland, Revenue, the Housing Agency, any local authority, any lender or any Government department. It is not a lender, a mortgage broker, a credit or insurance intermediary, a solicitor, a tax adviser or a financial adviser. It covers the Republic of Ireland only. Before you sign anything, talk to a solicitor and, for advice on a mortgage, to an advisor regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
